Thrive Market Review and Ordering Tips

July 23, 2020 By Jackie

We just started online grocery shopping at Thrive Market and I don’t know what took me so long. Thrive Market is the best grocery delivery service we have tried. Read the delivery section to see why I was extra impressed!

As I shopped for the first time, I said to my husband, “This is just like shopping a gigantic Whole Foods or Sprouts Market.” I was able to find 99% of the healthy brands we love, all in one place. In a pre-pandemic world, I was physically going to 2-4 stores per week to find all the same items.

Their prices are lower than I’ve seen locally too. I noticed a $1-2 savings on most items compared to what I would have paid through Instacart for the same brand. So, Thrive Market will be my new way to stock healthy pantry staples. Instacart will remain my go-to for fresh and refrigerated items, like bananas and milk.

Membership Fee

There is a $59/annual membership fee. For every membership they sell, Thrive Market gives a membership to someone in need.

Thrive Market Is NOT a subscription service. You can do your online grocery shopping as often or as infrequently as you want. Your membership fee simply gives you access to the store.

Please note, they waive shipping costs for over $49 because they care about the planet and reducing the carbon footprint of shipping. Their free shipping offer encourages larger, less frequent orders.

Other Fees

Shipping is free on orders over $49. For smaller orders, shipping is a flat fee of $5.95.

Tips for Ordering

The Thrive Market catalog is huge! But Thrive Market does a great job with categories and filters. You can filter by diet type, like gluten-free, keto, or paleo. The search is also great…just type in the brand you’re looking for.

Some items say “Add 2” on the add to cart button. That means they’re only sold in a quantity of two and the total in your cart will reflect the price for two items. These days, I feel like I’m always ordering two or more of everything to keep the pantry stocked, so I like this feature.

If an item is out of stock, you can request to be reminded when it’s back in stock.

Your Role After Online Grocery Shopping

Thrive Market is like classic online shopping. You don’t have to do anything after you place your order. They will notify you and provide tracking information once your order ships. I placed my first order on a Tuesday and received it the same week on Friday.

Delivery Method and Tips

My orders have all shipped via FedEx. You can track your packages directly in your Thrive Market account.

Your order might arrive in more than one shipment. For my first order of 26 items, two cans of soup were shipped separately a few days later. Just be aware your order might get split up into multiple shipments. They will provide you with tracking numbers and expected delivery dates for each package.

The Thrive Market packaging is impeccable!

Thrive Market doesn’t leave anything to chance when making sure your items arrive in perfect condition. The box arrived in great condition. Even though it was standing on end when it got delivered, everything inside was fine.

When I opened the box, I was pleasantly surprised to see the box had cardboard dividers to neatly organize everything.

In this box, there were two dividers. In the section on the left, we’re all the boxed goods. The middle section had all the liquid and glass items. The other section had all the remaining items. Chips and bagged items were on top.

The liquid items I ordered, like Barista Blend Almond Milk and Pacific Organics soups, were wrapped together in a plastic bag, in case of leaks.

The glass jar of Thrive pasta sauce and Primal Foods Teriyaki sauce I ordered, were individually wrapped in plastic, and then wrapped several times around with a brown crinkle paper.

Hands down the best packaging we’ve seen. The unpacking experience was so pleasant.

Selection and Stock Availability

Thrive Market carries over 6,000 items, an incredible selection for online grocery shopping. Like I said above, it’s like shopping all your favorite health food stores in one place.

If an item is out of stock, they continue to show it at the end of the search results or category that you’re in. As I familiarize myself with all the brands they carry, I appreciate seeing the out of stock items too. They also you to get reminders when items come back in stock.

How Thrive Market Keeps Earning My Business

I’m still a new Thrive Market customer, but I don’t see myself ever going back to running around town trying to find all the healthy products we like. I prefer online grocery shopping. Thrive Market will always be more convenient, and from what I’ve seen so far, the prices are better.

Sign Up Now

As I said, I don’t know why I waited so long to join Thrive Market. I should have been a member long before the pandemic started. Finally, I can find all of our favorite foods in one place at great prices.
