Have you seen the new Hearth and Hand collection at Target? I’m not even into farmhouse style, and I love it. I think there are some really amazing pieces that can work for any style.

Maybe you didn’t even look at the Hearth and Hand collection because you’re not into the farmhouse style. Well, I’d encourage you to look again. While the collection is clearly farmhouse style overall, there are some great pieces in the collection that would work for other styles as well.

If you’ve only shopped the Hearth and Hand collection in your local store, you might be missing out. Even my SuperTarget doesn’t have the full collection on display. There is a lot more online, especially pieces that would work well for non-farmhouse styles.

I think Chip and Jo definitely delivered on their promise to create quality pieces at an affordable price. I’ve been very impressed by the quality of all the items I’ve seen in person.

I bought this nailhead wreath holder and I’m obsessed with it. It’s solid iron and has a great weight, not like those flimsy holiday wreath hangers. Because this one doesn’t scream holiday with a metallic finish or bells, I can use it for wreaths year-round.

Pretty much everything in this collection would make a great gift too. No worries if your recipient isn’t into farmhouse style either. This post will show you what to pick to fit their style.

This is how you shop the Hearth and Hand Collection at Target if you DON'T like farmhouse style.

When you take a closer look at the individual pieces in the collection you can see many different style influences. Pull out the right pieces and you can shop the Hearth and Hand collection for any style.

To show you what I mean, I put together five mini collections from Hearth and Hand that are perfect whether your style is modern, traditional, rustic, eclectic, or Scandinavian.

Modern

Look for clean lines and simple shapes with an interesting use of materials, like brass for coasters, matte black metal for flatware, and leather handles on the wood cutting board and canvas storage tote.

Look for classic pieces with interesting detailing, like the embroidery on the throw blanket, the etching on the bell and mirror frame, and the brass handles on the tray.

Eclectic

Look for a variety of textures patterns and materials, like the mix of knit and embroidery pillows, the textured pitcher (which would be great for flowers), and the aged brass details.

The best eclectic style items from the Hearth and Hand collection at Target

Textured Stoneware Pitcher | Distressed Brass Wall Mirror | Knit Tassel Throw Pillow | Embroidered X Pattern Pillow | Brass Wrap Vase

Scandinavian

Look for minimal pieces that have interesting geometric shapes and items that add a sense of coziness and warmth, like the log holder, pillar candles, and the cocoa pot.

I love this, Jackie! I seriously wonder sometimes once something gets prelabeled “farmhouse” if it fits my style definition from DYS– this was so helpful! (and dangerous- I ended up purchasing 2 more items after seeing them here.)

I love this take on it and I wish these came to Canada! Great article and great look on a topic most people wouldn’t even think about!

Loved this breakdown. I had received a Target catalog which also included some of the Threshold brand items too. It is interesting how my sister was drawn to the wooden tray with the metal. She is traditional yet she liked how the galvanized in a different Target which had way more items had some gold metal with it and she liked that tray. So I wonder if a farmer married a city girl. That would be my uncle and my aunt! And how that influenced the decor of theirvtruly farm house.
I love this post. I’ve yet to see the department at Target but I agree with you after talking to my sister who actually saw much more variety at a smaller Target than a larger one.

Gwen, So fun to hear how this applied in real-life with your sister. The gold welding on the galvanized pieces really is a cool touch.

Love this, Jackie! I definitely like some of the farmhouse styles, but also like to incorporate other pieces into my decor that are more modern/rustic. I never would have thought to round up these ideas!

Kalyn, Thank you. This was fun to do. I think I’ll have to do breakdowns like this for future collections too.

I tend to stay away from farmhouse and I loved the line. Now I totally see why. So cool.
