In this week’s episode of Home Styling 101, I’m sharing my favorite tricks for one of my biggest decorating struggles. You’re guaranteed to pick up a few decorating tips you’ve never heard of.

This episode was inspired by my ongoing battle with my living room mantel. You see, it’s gigantic. It’s over 4′ wide. I’m 5’10” and the top of the mantel is at my nose level. I know that sounds insane, but it is the proper scale for my two story great room.

The problem is my mantel can dwarf any decor. Even big decor looks tiny on it. So every time I decorate it, I struggle when the decor I want to display is too small.

My ginormous mantel has been a great proving ground for home styling. Over the years I’ve filled my bag of tricks with simple ways to make short decor appear taller. In this video I share my 8 favorite decorating props to elevate small decor.

This video is part of my new Home Styling 101 video series. Be sure to go back and watch Episode 1: The Five Essential Types of Home Decor and Episode 2: How to Mix and Match Home Decor. The concepts in each video build upon one another, so it’s best to watch them in order.

The Home Styling 101 videos are free, but only my email subscribers get the extra resources mentioned in each video. Sign up here for free access to all the videos, checklists, and cheat sheets you need to style your home like a pro.
