Have you ever bought something that you loved, then got it home and liked it a little less because you weren’t sure how to use it?
For me it happens with clothes and accessories all the time. I bought a pretty scarf in a gorgeous color. I get it home and try wearing it a few different ways. I see what else it goes with in my closet. When I can’t nail a good outfit with my new scarf, I hang it up in the corner of my closet where it may never see the light of day again.
When you can’t immediately make something new fit in, you like it a little less. It doesn’t seem to go with anything else. You might even regret buying it.
But what if I knew how to wear a scarf as an accessory, what types of shirts look good with a scarf, and 3 different ways to tie it? Chances are I’d be more successful creating an outfit with my new scarf.
Home decor is the same way. You love it at the store, but when you get it home you aren’t sure where it looks best. Maybe it’s taller than you thought or doesn’t look good with everything else in the room or you’re just not sure what to put with it. So you start to like it a little less.
After accumulating these things that you thought you loved, but really aren’t sure how to work with, you start to feel like you don’t have the right things. You think you must need new or different things to decorate well.
Let me make something clear: If you bought things you loved, then YOU HAVE ALL THE RIGHT THINGS. You just need to know how to use them better.
One of the foundational classes in Décorography is called 7 Simple Styling Secrets to Decorate Better With What You Already Have. It’s a 30-minute video class, where I share and show my favorite decorating secrets. It’s a get yourself a cup of coffee, a notepad, and prepare to learn new ways to decorate with your old stuff type of class.
I show you how to take your decor from “doesn’t make a whole lot of sense together”…
…to “much better”…
…to “whoa, that looks good!”
All the same stuff, arranged differently. Fixing aimless arrangements is only one of the seven secrets you’ll learn.
This training is one of SIX foundational classes you get the instant you sign up for Décorography.
This was great! Loved all the beautiful pictures, and the tips. Makes so much more sense, and was wonderfully done.
Thank you Britt!
