Bathrooms are one of the most functional rooms in the house, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be pretty. You just need creative organizing solutions and decor that can survive the moist environment and tight space. Here are my top 3 tips for styling a beautiful bathroom:
1. In Plain Sight
Store toiletries and products in plain sight. Keep all those toiletries you are grabbing for regularly, like toilet paper and cotton swabs, out in plain sight. Make it stylish by using pretty containers. In our bathroom, we use DIY candlestick apothecary jars for cotton products, like cotton swabs, cleansing rounds, and cotton balls. We also use a decorative chrome toilet paper holder to hold extra rolls within reach of the toilet.
2. Go Vertical
If space is tight or you have lots of products, use you vertical space. A tiered tray or wall mounted cabinet can increase your storage capacity. You know all those expensive bottles of potions and lotions you buy that come in pretty containers, put them on display. In our bathroom we use a DIY rustic glam tiered tray between our sinks. It holds all our daily products. For the small items, like lip gloss, hair binders, and razor blades, I corralled them in pretty mercury glass votive holders.
3. A Touch of Romance
The last element for a beautiful bathroom as a little romance. Bring on the candles and flowers, both of which do well in the moist bathroom environment. In our bathroom, we installed a wall of votive holders with tea light candles. It looks pretty unlit in the daylight, and absolutely stunning all lit up in the evening.
What are you favorite ways to make a bathroom beautiful?
I use pretty trays to keep all my beauty products contained. While I don’t love having them on the counter, my bathroom has limited storage and no drawers!
I love the candles in the jars! They are big enough to use real tea lights and are one of the prettiest ideas for a bathroom wall. Simple yet elegant. Since I have a cupboard over the commode I decided I prefer my toilet paper there but I like using mercury glass candle sticks for the jar holders. I may do just one or two narrow candlesticks on my tray that has my perfume and my hubby’s gorgeous razor and stand. For my tray, I did spray paint one of the many silver dollar tree trays we had used for my daughters vintage themed wedding. But it actually looks nice in a kind of buff flat color. I have votives like yours ill use for my Qtips. We do not have a big bathroom so counter space is small. I may even see if it works to have a double tray (or would it all tumble as I dry my hair?!!). Love your ideas.
I must be weird for I like something on my commode top. I even saw a commode at Lowes that had a square lid with a square edge! I have a perfect sized iron deal with iron bird and three tea lights and battery tealights…the battery ones let me have a bit of candlelight under cabinets. I do hang towels from PB for the seasons. Are they my art pieces?! I love all the color and unique designs they add to my small space!
Wow…wonderful bathroom styling tips. All are fantastic but I most liked #2 tip and I will surely use my space as you have told.
