Jealous of the gorgeous rooms in glossy magazine spreads? Wish your space looked TV-worthy? The secret is interior styling. Magazines, TV, publishers, even larger blogs employ interior stylists for every photo shoot, to make sure a space looks it’s best in front of the camera.
Well, most of those rooms are so heavily styled, they aren’t even functional anymore. But, there is a happy medium. You can create a well-dressed room that is comfortable and functional. Amateur interior styling has become part of my everyday pursuits as I create livable spaces in my home that also photograph well for my blog.
For the next 31 days, as part of The Nesters annual writing challenge, I will be writing everyday on interior styling. I plan to focus on everyone’s biggest trouble area…the accessorizing. How do you arrange all those vases, objects, books, candlesticks, and art pieces to create a cohesive space that looks as good on camera as it does in real life? I will show you how in the next 31 days.

I am mildly obsessed with learning the art of interior styling. As I said, I style in my home nearly everyday. Several months ago I created a Pinterest Board dedicated to Styling Tips. There are already 66 great pins on everything from arranging pillows to styling a coffee table. Throughout this 31 days series, I will focus my pinning efforts on growing the Styling Tips board. Be sure to follow me on Pinterest for all the interior styling goodness.
Now, back to what I will be talking about for the next 31 days. I will be sharing interior styling tips I have learned, as well as push myself to learn and try new ways of styling. I want to share a mix of posts covering interior styling basics, what I am trying in my home, and a few styling DIY projects. I am taking this series as an opportunity for me to grow and learn about interior styling and in turn share it with you.

Reeve, Yay! Congratulations on the move.
Thank you for doing this. I am looking forward to it!!!
This is a great topic! I love styling and I am looking forward to all of your tips! :-)
Yay, I am really looking forward to this. It is my biggest challenge.
Tammy, I am there with you. That is why I am focusing on it all month long. We can do this!
Woohoo!!!! This is going to be awesome!
Oooh! I’m excited. I need some major help with styling.
Wonderful! I’m looking forward to this!
Looking forward to reading your blog all month – and the best part – posts on weekends! Loved the styling tips board, thanks for sharing.
Haha, Kim…don’t remind me…two more posts per week. It’s okay, I have a plan and I love my topic!
I found you through the 31 days challenge.
I’m writing a series, too!
Looking forward to learning some styling tips from you!
Hi:) This is great! Looking forward to your 31 days of styling inspiration… Believe it will be just what I need to get going in my new home… New as in 9 months already, desperately waiting for some styling love;)
Lara, Congrats on the new home. Don’t feel bad, we did the same thing. We didn’t start transforming our home until a year in. I think it takes a while to recover after the whole home buying process :)
Look forward to all of these! I’m kind of stuck in a rut with my house…it’s not poorly decorated, just underdecorated ;)
Abbey, This series should help with some quick and easy ideas. Plus, I am trying to do most of the series with things I already have.
Thanks for doing this, I am excited to start putting your styling tips to use!
This sounds awesome, I can’t wait to hear what you have to say!! When I’m styling my house I usually just move things around until I like how it looks so seeing some guidelines will be helpful :)
Kristin, That is what I normally do too. But, I am forcing myself to learn some of the rules and tricks so I can share them with you :)
I’m so excited about this series! This is such a hard thing to learn and I know it’ll be so valuable to see how you do it all month long.
I’ll definitely be following along! As a blogger who takes lots of photos of my home, interior styling can make or break a photo! Looking forward to it : ]
Yay! I had a toss up between doing my series on Interior Styling or Interior Photography. I’ll have to work on my photography skills to make that next years series :)
Ahhhh! I feel like this series was made just for me. I’m SO pinning this so I can follow along and learn from you and your master styling ways. As I’ve already told you before, this is an area in which I feel I need direction. Thank you for being willing to share your expertise with us!
Lovely series and thanks for it!
We just moved into our first “real” house after some 70 combined moves.
As you share, I’ll gratefully read and file away for the time when it’s best.
I wonder, too, if you might consider a future styling post- on styling in transition. When things aren’t 100% what you’d like or want to have- how to make it workable.
Thanks!
