Pompom Business Cards

I am having fun at the Haven Blog Conference and cannot wait to tell you all about it.  I am spreading cheer with my business cards.  They are fun, colorful, and a little quirky.

I’ve made handmade business cards in the past, which I loved, but I they weren’t really possible to make in a larger quantity.  I wanted something easier to make, but that still had a special feeling.  I thought long and hard about what the goal of my business card is (total nerd, I know).

The goal of my business cards is to encourage recipients to visit my site and to be memorable.  A mere web address on a card does not guarantee a visit.  To make my cards a bit more memorable, I wanted them to come with a little swag.

I came up with this idea to give recipients a DIY supply along with my card, which also has a link to a page on my website with a video tutorial on how to use the supply in a DIY project.  Now, finding a home decor supply small enough and flat enough to go along with a business card, while still being attractive and that makes for a good DIY project, is no small feat.

My solution was pompom trim…cute, colorful, and fun.  My mom tipped me off that Walmart carries small, slightly larger than business card size, plastic zipper bags.  Turns out they were just the right size to fit my small business cards (from Moo) at the bottom along with a 12″ length of pompom trim.

On the outside of the baggie, I attached a label with an arrow on the front.  Flip it over and there is a little note and link.  The link leads visitors to a page with a video tutorial on how to make an easy pompom trim pillow.  I actually included two versions of a pompom trim pillow, plus a bonus no-sew version.

Here is where I admit this post is almost a total tease.  I will be back on Monday with a full post on the pompom trim pillows, including more pictures and the video tutorial.  If you just can’t stand to wait, go here.  Right now, I am busy gabbing with a bunch of girls about all things blogging and home.  Next week, I will also share more about what I learned at the conference.

What a cool idea, both the business cards w/pom poms and the pom pom pillow video. I couldn’t hear it because I’m at work, but you look really cute. I’ve been wanting to use pom-poms, but didn’t want to go overboard. Your pillow idea is perfect!

Lisa, Thank you. I am the same way. I love the pompom, but too much is too much. I also wanted the pillows to be as easy to make as possible. I hope you’ll try it out.

What a great idea. I love the texture it gives to the pillow. Have fun at the conference!

Just a suggestion, but next time, instead of a text link, try a QRcode generator. People will be able to scan immediately with their smart phones. Instant connection! That’s a tip I learned from Maker Faire.
