The best part of my job is receiving after pictures from my lovely clients. I recently helped tweak one room for a past client and she just sent over the after pictures. I immediately asked if I could share them with you guys.
What I love about this client is she knows her dynamic color combo. She loves purple and her favorite sports time is University of Tennessee. So, purple and orange it is! You might recall this is the same client with the Wild Lounge Kitchen Nook. I am excited to show you how she is carrying her dynamic color combo throughout her house.
She asked me for help choosing a rug for her living room. The room has a gorgeous stone floor, but as you can imagine it gets a bit cold underfoot. She already had a great chocolate sectional, mirrored end tables, and a purple chair. My goal was to bring in the orange color in a nice, tasteful way to compliment the purple chair, not compete with it.
When I relaunched Teal & Lime Interiors, I added a new service called The Q&A. It was in response to many requests I had received to help with one tweak to a room, rather than a full mood board. The Q&A is just what it implies. You ask a decorating question and I provide the answer. It can be used to ask about a particular decorating challenge, to source a specific item, or to recommend a paint color.
As part of the Q&A service, Lindsey asked me to recommend a rug for her living room. I sourced a few orange rug options for Lindsey. She loved the Lattice Wool Dhurrie from West Elm I recommended and showed it to a friend before ordering. Her friend said it reminded her of one she saw on RugsUSA. The pattern was similar enough that Lindsey loved her friends suggestion, and ordered the RugUSA rug for 65% off.
Isn’t it amazing what the color and pattern of the rug do to perk up the room? And, by the way, see Sofia there on the sofa? That is Lindsey’s dog. We have bonded over dogs, since ours is also named Sofia. We have compared dog nicknames. We call our Sofia anything from sopapia, sofie, sofes, tee-tee, to sofiapia.
Well, a little advice on choosing the right rug for the space was all Lindsey needed to pull this room together. To tie in the purple chair and orange rug, Lindsey used my easy envelop pillow cover method to make new throw pillows for the sectional. The colors help brighten up the dark sectional. What a fun room, right? I would totally love to hang out here with a good glass of wine!
I am also helping Lindsey with her gorgeous purple office. You can just see it through the door on the left in the photo above. Check out the pin board I created for the Luscious Purple Home Office. So, we have more after pictures to look forward to from Lindsey.
I love her dog in all the pics!
I was thinking the same thing, wow that rug really makes a difference! Love it!
Your absolutely right, a single rug can really make the entire room pop! I think orange was a nice choice, and even better if she’s a vols fan.
Wow, it made a huge difference! I’d think orange and purple could be kind of hard to marry together in one room, but with the rug and pillows it really looks beautiful.
I think the “after” posts are some of my faves!! :)
It’s so fun to see the after pics. I love the color you chose for the rug. It goes perfectly with that brown couch. Can’t wait to see that purple office.
I love before and afters! I also like to see them side by side for less scrolling :)
Great advise and it looks wonderful.
I love how it looks, I have a sectional that is that same color and never really knew how to change it up and what color pillows to use. This looks great :)
a rug definitely defines a space!
