May 7, 2013 By Jackie

It has been a long time since I have made an impulse buy for the home. Ever since my  home spending hiatus, I have tried to be mindful of only making planned purchases. But, I must say, this end cap of colorful rugs stopped me in my tracks!  After rounding up my 45 favorite rugs from 15 sources, I feel like I am rug-obsessed.  I believe there is a perfect rug for every room!

Target Indoor/Outdoor Rugs

I love bright color and bold patterns. Is it any surprise I took the turquoise and lime rugs home with me? When I bought them I wasn’t exactly sure how I would use them, but knew I would find a spot for them in my home. Each 30 x 48″ rug was only 29.99.  I love the 30 x 48″ size…it is bigger than the standard 2′ x 3′ size that is widely available, but still small enough for kitchens and hallways.

They quickly found new homes in my home.  The turquoise rug is the perfect replacement for the Nate Berkus bath rug I tried in my kitchen, which was a bit small and sadly shrank after washing making it even smaller.

Turquoise Kitchen Rug

I love the much bolder pattern and brighter color of this new rug. It pops right off the dark wood floors and helps break up all the wood tones in the kitchen.  I’ll admit I tried the lime one in the kitchen first, but it just clashed with the wood cabinets.  The turquoise compliments them.

The lime green rug found a home in the mud room. During the winter we use a dark brown utility rug in the  mud room. The only thing it is good for is hiding dirt. When this spring finally rolled around, I was craving something bright and cheery for this space. The lime green graphic rug is so much better.

Fair warning on this one…it is not yellow.  They call it yellow online, the tag on the end cap said yellow, and the packaging might have too.  At best I would consider this color “grellow”.  Really, it is lime green.  I love it, but if you are looking for a sunny yellow, this rug won’t work.

I broke out the wide-angle lens to show you how these rugs sit in relation to each other. From certain vantage points you can see both rugs, but they are separate enough that they don’t compete with each other. The mud room is sort of tucked behind our kitchen leading into the garage.

Would you believe these two rugs are indoor/outdoor rugs?  You would never know by looking at them or touching them.  These rugs are available in blue, lime green, red, brown, and green, and in sizes up to 8′ x 10′ online.  They are woven rugs. The package says the fibers are yarn-dyed to resist fading.  They are soft and warm to the touch.  I might have hugged them in the store and twirled around in slow motion :)  Outdoor rugs = durable!

This is one home impulse buy I don’t think I will regret.  I am super happy to have colorful, fun, durable rugs for my mud room and kitchen.  Seriously, I get all giddy inside at the thought of taking these outside for a good hosing when they get dirty.

Are you using outdoor rugs inside your house yet?  Besides these newest additions, my dining room sports a fabulous outdoor rug.  I just love the durability!

OOOH I LOVE!! being that they are indoor/outdoor, are they machine washable or do you hose them off outside to clean them?

On the tag it says to shake to remove loose dirt and to rinse with water for periodic cleaning. I think the backing is probably a bit stiff to handle a washing machine and may have trouble with the heat in the dryer. I will be using my hose to spray mine down. In the winter, I can spray them in the bathtub.

I love the teal rug. I saw it last week and have been debating buying it for my bathroom redo. I just can’t come up with another accent color I love with it which has me on the fence.
Looks great in your kitchen. Maybe it’s a sign I should buy it ;)

Go for it Marcie. Turquoise can be paired with so many other colors…gray, coral, lime green, navy. I hope you find one you love!

I took the plunge, returned my Homegoods yellow rugs, and went to get the turquoise one. They are OUT!?!
Another lesson for me to snatch up accents when I find them. Bah.

You just made my day… I noticed those in the store last week and was disappointed to see they didn’t have them in bigger sizes. I need a new rug for my screen porch! Meant to search online and your post reminded me once you said they DO have them in bigger sizes… and the price totally fits my budget :) Blue rug here I come!!!

Glad to help. I had found them online first, then just about flipped when I saw the smaller ones in the store. You can bet I walked all around those rug aisles just to see if they had the larger sizes, too.

Will have to keep an eye out for these rugs at the new Canadian Target stores. They look great.

Love your rugs! I might just have to go to Target this weekend! Do you use a rug pad for them??? I’m in love w outdoor rugs. I just got one from Ballard for my play room. My kids had destroyed our last rug and this one cleans SO easily (moist towel and maybe a little soap for the worst parts). Thanks for the inspiration!

Thanks, Sandra. I do not currently have rug pads under them. The one on the vinyl in the mudroom hasn’t budged. The one on the wood floor in the kitchen is slipping around a bit. The label recommends a rug pad for wood floors. I have a larger rug pad I will cut down to fit.

I agree…outdoor rugs are amazing for any kid zones. It was a huge factor in my decision to use one in the dining room. The quality and feel on the outdoor rugs has improved so much recently!

So glad you featured these! I saw them at my local Target too but didn’t realize they were indoor/outdoor rugs. I was deciding between the turquoise and the “yellow” when another customer came and snatched the turqoise one (they only had one left)…. I took the “yellow” aka grellow one home and love it in my kitchen. I can’t believe how soft it is and that I can so easily clean it. Thanks for the heads up!!

Heather, Isn’t it hard to tell sometimes if stuff at Target is flying off the shelves or if it is just new and they haven’t gotten it stocked up yet? Ours only had 1-2 of each color when I got mine, too.

Yes!!! it is. I don’t know how many times I have decided to get something when back and its gone and then have to trek all the way to another Target only to see it eventually be restocked etc. However, there have been times when once it is gone it is gone… So you just never know. I will be anxious to see if they re-stock these.

I do think they are pretty new, so here’s hoping!

Need rugs for my kitchen. I’ll be heading to Target.com, though my kids are begging me for a Target trip this weekend anyway!
