I have a double mood board eye-candy treat for you today!!  I recently created this pair of beautiful mood boards for the same client, who loved Edie Wadsworth’s home.

If you don’t know Edie, she is the woman behind he beautiful blog Life in Grace.  She lost her home in a fire a couple of years ago and was forced to rebuild.  Her new home is stunning down to every last detail.  Every room is a wonderful mix of styles, materials, and colors.  My client saw a spread on Edie’s home in BHG and fell hopelessly in love.  She asked me to capture a similar style for her living room and dining room.

Living Room

The plan for my client’s living room was a neutral backdrop with splashes of color.  My client already had a dark leather couch and chair that would stay in the space.  I purposefully chose light and colorful accents to lighten up the big, heavy leather furniture.

Living Room Mood Board

My favorite elements in the living room are the two art pieces.  My client’s husband is an avid bicyclist and I could not resist recommending the cheeky It’s Better Tandem print.  The peacock art was a story of great minds think alike.  Sometimes clients  share their Pinterest accounts with me, but I prefer to do a draft of their designs before looking at their Pins.  In this case, after I finished the living room mood board I browsed my clients pins and saw the same Peacock art I had selected for the room.  She had pinned it from a Tumblr account and I figured she would be delighted I had the real source for her.

Dining Room

My client was off to an amazing start in her dining room.  She already installed a silvery-grey Phillip Jeffries grasscloth wallpaper.  She found a trestle-style table (from World Market) that she paired with contrasting West Elm scoop-back chairs and bench.  She also hung an Ikea Maskros light over the table.  But, the room just wasn’t coming together.  I slapped all her existing choices on the mood board and worked to fill out all the details to finish the room.  I gave her the finishing touches to make the room cohesive.
