I have another double mood board treat for you today, and this one comes with after pictures!!!  Sweet Gretchen asked me to create a mood board for her master bedroom and master bathroom.  She had chosen a beautiful wall color for her bedroom, but didn’t know where to go from there.  Her bathroom was completely a blank slate, but had amazing potential with the centerpiece tub.  Here are some before pictures:

Gretchen loves coastal style, and wanted a swanky hotel feel.  I came up with “Swanky Coastal” for her mood boards.

In the bedroom, I helped with a last-minute headboard swap to fit a Cali King bed.  The new headboard with wings and nailhead detail is even better than the one suggested on the mood board.

Gretchen implemented the room perfectly down to every last detail on the night stands.  I love the “his” and “hers” clocks.  A rustic wood clock for him and a more polished clock for her.  The trinket bowls, by a handmade Etsy artisan, are reminiscent of seashells.  They are the prefect landing spot for watches and small jewelry at bedtime.

On the other side of the room, a round mirror looks light and airy above the large rectangular dresser.  The round shape is echoed in the nearby urchin art prints.

In the bathroom, the amazing tub is obviously the focal point.  Adding a capiz shell chandelier above and curtains helped enhance the luxurious feeling in the bathroom.

The accessories on the vanities are simple and white to contrast against the stone counters.  The hand towels have a soft pattern and color on a white background.

The blank wall straight ahead as you enter the bathroom, which was visible from the master bedroom, called for a great piece.  The blue shelf with curvy legs was just what the drab corner needed.  And who doesn’t need a little extra storage in the bathroom?  The baskets help conceal toiletries.  The bubble stool provides a handy seat in the bathroom, other than the edge of the tub.

Okay…how fabulous is Gretchen’s master suite?!?!  She cracked me up when she sent over the after pictures, saying “It is so beautiful and I have made all of our neighbors come and check out our new master suite!”.  I just pictured her traipsing all her neighbors through her bedroom for a tour :)  I couldn’t have asked for a better testimonial than that.

Note:  Out of respect to my clients, I share completed mood board designs, but I do not share the source information.  I hope you find the mood boards inspiring.

Have a space you need help with?

As you can see from Gretchen’s room transformation, my mood boards are like a visual shopping list for your perfect room.  I take all the guesswork out, so you can do the fun part.  In addition to the mood board, I include a free DIY ideas board for the room.  Get yours here.

Wow, it is beautiful. I would’ve made my neighbors come and take a home tour, too. ;)
I esp. like the round mirror in the bedroom and the capiz chandelier and curtain in the bathroom! We have a capiz lamp in our downstairs bathroom as well and I love the “Caribbean look” it adds and the sound it makes when the window is open and the air moves the single capiz shells…

I thought it was against code to have a light fixture like that over a bathtub.

Isn’t it fantastic? And those are real, individual nail heads. We found it in Cali King for under $600! Definitely makes the room.

I love the comforter cover fabric! Any chance you could tell me where that was purchased or what the fabric is if handmade? Thanks!
