I LOVE my warm climate clients. In the deep of winter they give me an escape. Nothing warms up a winter day more than working on a great coastal or surf-inspired design. It was so much fun designing this loft playroom for two pre-teen boys and a mom who love to surf!
My client had already ordered the rug. It is absolutely one of my favorite rugs ever…teal and moroccan are a match made in heaven. My favorite part of the design is the upholstered folding chairs. The colors and patterns remind me of mis-matched bathing suits. They are the perfect flexible seating for two video game playing boys.
My client’s loft space is open to a stairwell and the upstairs hallway. I recommended leaving the modern white walls, except in one key area. The large wall-mounted TV stuck out like a sore thumb on the white wall. I recommended painting the wall a deep teal to help the TV blend in. Now the white credenza below the TV is the star.
Note: Out of respect to my clients, I share completed mood board designs, but I do not share the source information. I hope you find the mood boards inspiring.

I am in love with those folding chairs! Your choice of fabrics and patterns is beautiful.
I love that room. The digitally simulated room (with new wall paint and rug) is really helpful too! I REALLY hope this client submits after photos – I am kind of in love with the beautiful light and wood tones in her house already!
