Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you are having a wonderful day with your family and friends.
I am thankful for many things, but above all else I am thankful for the three people closest to me; my man and our two little men. The men in my life make me feel safe, loved, and they make my laugh!
At the end of the summer we took our annual family photo. This year was super special to me, because we finally got to do the shoot I have waited for 5 years to do. We took this years pictures in front of these amazing turquoise doors at the church at St. Catherine’s University. We were waiting for the boys get steady on their feet, because there are a lot of steps up to the doors.
I always order six 8 x 10 portraits for our gallery wall. The gallery wall is a big focal point in our family room and I like to keep the pictures fresh. I know in the depths of winter this year, I will enjoy seeing our summer photos with the twinkle of sun in our eyes.
The center picture is actually on our Christmas card this year. The plan was for us to hold up the letters spelling “XOXO”. With a 5 year-old and 2.5 year old, we were lucky to get them to hold the letters. We ended up spelling “OX”, but if you look closely you can see an X on my oldest’s head and a backwards O like a steering wheel in my youngest’s hands.
Those turquoise doors are perfect for our family room. Also, love the door backdrops with the framed keys in the gallery wall…they seem made for each other. We actually ordered a larger gallery wrapped canvas from the same session for our future basement family room. The coloring in the photo is amazing and I knew I would be happy to have a large canvas of this session for years to come.
Have a wonderful, safe, and happy Thanksgiving! Hugs and kisses to all!
Just beautiful.
Aren’t you in Minnesota ? So I find it well unusual to find doors your color at a University!!! It’s beautiful no matter what ones home color scheme might be.
It made me think of all these doctor visits to a city with a mission in it. I’d ask to go inside this ancient building and talk to God about it all. The doors were amazingly awesome. I never thought of them as a photo for our cards but it would have made sense–a representative of The Lord being our safe place in the midst of so much medical junk…I’m now inspired for my husband and I to one day do a photo shot using a unique church door for our Christmas photo. May you have a happy thanksgiving and blessings rich from our Lord and Savior in this upcoming season!
Thank you and well put, Gwen. Wishing you and your family a happy holiday season!
My mom went to St. Catherines! Love the photos. Simply stunning.

You have such a great eye for a beautiful spot! I often notice spots for great family photos but don’t write it down and forget. You’ve inspired me to remember. =)
