Some things are just too pretty to put away! That is how I felt about the candlestick candy jars I made for Jax’s Bug Party. After enjoying a few weeks to finish all the jelly beans, I started searching for a new home for these beauties.
These glamourous jars seemed like a good fit for the master bathroom. I originally dreamed of them near the tub to hold bath salts and scrubs, but, sadly enough, I rarely take a bath. If I did, I would probably knock these over and have shattered glass everywhere. I needed a safer and more practical place for them.
We have this great little cabinet nook in the bathroom with a large counter surface. I decided to put the jars grouped in the corner. They are both decorative here and functional. I filled them up with all the cotton goodies we use, like q-tips, cotton balls, and round cotton pads.
Zooming out a bit, you can get a feel for this little area of our bathroom. When we first moved in I thought this area was function-less. Then we removed the shelves from the base cabinets and slid our hampers inside. Now I don’t know what we would do without this space.
We found the retro-style lamp at Target for about $50. This counter is a great place to keep a table fan to cool off the bathroom after a steamy shower or while I am blow-drying my hair. Am I the only one who works up a sweat getting ready in the morning? I promise, I am low maintenance.
I love the fan’s retro style in modern brush nickel. I also appreciated the nice price tag and the modern safety features…I have a couple boys with wandering fingers around here.

Under the Table and Dreaming
I saw that fan at Target and fell in live too! I live how it’s so sleek compared to most fans. I’d love to know if it’s loud or quiet? My husband and I prefer a louder fan sound in our bedroom. Thanks!
Hi Amber. The fan has three settings. On the low setting it is a quiet whisper, which I prefer. On the highest setting it is noticeably louder. I usually keep it on low or medium, because I prefer it quieter and in my bathroom the high setting makes it like a wind tunnel :). Since our bathroom is smaller, we don’t use the oscillating feature, but this fan can do that too!
Love the candlestick jars…..
I think this area in your bathroom would also be a perfect place to put a coffee pot for morning coffee!
where did you find the jars and how much
Hi Shaunna, The jars are from Home Goods and cost $1.99 each.
How about the candlesticks? Where did you purchase those. Love them!
Janice, the candlesticks were on clearance at Target after Christmas. The holidays are the best time of year to find mercury glass stuff.
I work up a sweat getting ready too! LOL! Sitting under a hot blowdrying in a confined space makes me so hot!
Hi Jackie,
Love this! How did you get the jars to stay on top of the candlesticks? I have a bunch of candlesticks like these left over from our wedding and was looking for something practical to use them for. This looks very practical and chic. Thanks!
Torrey, In the post there is a link back to when I originally made them with a lot more detail. Basically I glued the jars with E6000 glue to the candlesticks.
I agree with Torrey. I don’t see a link back to the original post she refers to to about a more detail. Guess I am not the only one who missed that link.
The link is in the second sentence to the “Candlestick Candy Jars”, the original use of these containers. Here it is again: http://www.tealandlime.com/2012/02/candlestick-candy-jars/
I have some candlesticks that are a color I dont really like. Any ideas on how to make them over to look more like those? Also is Home Goods a local store or an online store? Love this idea!!=)
