Rug Find

Can you have too many rugs?  There are many things I have a thing for and I think I might need to add rugs to the list.  I just bought two rugs within a 24 hour period and I have at least a few others stashed in a closet.

Great rugs at affordable prices are hard to come by.  I feel like I always get a room done and find myself still trying to find the perfect rug.  So, when I see a rug I love at a great price, I have to get it.

Home Goods Cotton Rugs

I recently discovered a new-to-me rug section at Home Goods.  I knew about the hanging rugs, where I found my indoor/outdoor rug for the dining room.  Just recently I found the other rug section.  At both the Home Goods stores near me, there are more rugs near the bathroom section.  The other rug section has smaller rugs and runners, but also some 5 x 7′ cotton rugs.  The rugs are all folded and stacked on shelves.  You have to do a little digging, but there are some gems to be found.  How did I not know about this before?

Cotton rugs

I found these two 5 x 7′ rugs.  I don’t have an immediate need for rugs, but I loved them and decided to take them home.  I found the gold chevron first at the store near work.  The next day I could not resist checking the store by home for more and found the blue medallion rug.  With the basement almost complete, I am sure I will be able to find a home for two fabulous rugs.  The rugs have gorgeous designs and they were a steal.  They were only $49.99 each.

I make it to Home Goods frequently, but only for short periods of time, like on the way home from work or on my lunch break.  I have to prioritize when I can’t walk the whole store.  On quick trips I just hit up my favorite sections.  The other rug section will be a must-see aisle from now on.

I feel like your stalker but I read your blog every time you post and feel like your long lost sister or friend to say the least. I already new about the secret section, I’ve been shopping it for years but like you I just realized that rugs are one of those things I can’t pass up lately. I just bought one from TJMax knowing it wasn’t the right size for a space but it was a steal and it was adorable. I’ll use it somewhere, it’s just waiting for a home!

Those rugs are gorgeous! We don’t have a HomeGoods near us (very sad, I know!) but we will have one close by our new house (I’m so excited!)

I was wondering though how do you deal with cotton rugs to stop them from always “walking” or bunching up. Especially when you’re renting and stuck with putting rugs on top of carpet. I’ve stopped buying cotton rugs for this reason and pretty much only buy nice thick wool rugs (which tend to break the piggy bank and never look as cute as cotton rugs for a fun accent!)

That was long-winded. Sorry! PS LOVE your blog since I found it via YHL.

Sarah, I am not really sure how to deal with the rug slippage. I have only had smaller cotton rugs thrown down at the entry or in the kitchen before. These are my first larger rugs. Mine will probably be layered over carpet, so I was planning to get a rug pad designed to go between carpet and the rug (I have seen these special rug pads at Target – they kind of look like felt). Maybe since these rugs are fairly large I will anchor them with some furniture too.

just curious, do you know what the brand name of these rugs were?

Hi Victoria. The rugs just had an orange/pink tag on them and the “brand” was HOME. On the back it says they are made in India. Hope this helps.
