Giddy for Geese

I get giddy when I see something I like.  When I spotted these geese at the SnowGRADE popup shop, I was giddy.  They just make me happy.  I was even happier when I looked at the price tag.  They were $14 for the pair from Golden Age Design.  My husband, noticing how giddy they made me, said “get them”, shortly followed by “where are you going to put them?”  Of course, I had not idea where I was going to put them, but I knew they would find a good home.

It did not take long for me to find the perfect spot for my elegant geese.  The same weekend I was working on styling the dresser in the master bedroom.  The top of the dresser needed something else in addition to the lamp and framed art to round out the vignette.  Enter the geese.  The pair with their gracefully curved necks, were the perfect color for the black and white vignette and their curviness was a good compliment to the straight-lined frame.

The geese are identical.  They are exactly the same height, but when styling it is nice to have some height variation.  I decided to cover two books with handmade paper.  I stacked them at the back edge of the dresser.  One goose sits atop the books and the other sits on the dresser in front.

This little area above the dresser is the first thing I see every morning when I wake up.  It makes me happy to wake up to my beloved geese.  They are in good company with my framed placemat and sexy black lampshade with washi tape lining.

What recent decor find makes you giddy?  Any special space you wake up to that starts your day off right?

I love how you staggered the height with the books, and I never even thought of covering books with paper to give a cohesive look. Great idea!

LOVE the geese. I read the post when you bought them and thought quietly to myself ‘Huh… aren’t those a little… 70’s?’
But in your space they look really fantastic. Guess I am not a ‘big picture’ person :)

Loren, haha I can totally see what you were thinking since I showed the geese out of context. When I bought them they were perched atop a beautiful mid century modern credenza. Amazing how the different context can change a first impression.

Hi Jackie, Reading your blog for the past few days, I get this feeling – Not a cute thing misses your eye! And I must say that I love your wall colors. The geese are a perfect contrast against your wall and the books just blend in. Lovely!

Oh I love those geese… Wish I could find a pair on their site to buy, but I don’t see them.
