Recently I have focused on a few big things in the nursery, like the alphabet flashcard art and the no-sew striped shower curtain curtains, but it is all the little details that make the room personal. There is one special little corner in the room, crowned by the name bunting, that has big personality. I adore this space and want to share with you a closeup of my favorite things in the nursery.
First up, remember this ceramic owl? He got displaced in the family room by a mercury glass owl. I have a one owl per room limit. Well, this guy found a new home in the nursery. I love how he shows off in bright white against the dark teal walls. Sitting next to him is the jack sculpture I found at Target or $10. Perfect color and price. (Too bad there was only one and it is apparently never going to be restocked…hint, hint Target.) It is probably silly but I love the symbol of jacks for my son, Jax.
Also in this corner are a few other special items. The personalized cross-stitch was a gift from my dad. Isn’t is awesome that my dad does cross-stitch? He is really good…he also did a lighthouse cross-stitch as a post-wedding gift. He made a personalized piece for each of my boys when they were born with their full names and birth dates. He wrapped it around a canvas and then added ribbon around the edge. In front of the cross-stitch is twilight turtle, passed down from big brother and perfect for the animal theme.
The stack of dishes is baby china. Yes, I said baby china…they make that. This set was a gift from work when I had Jax. It is from the baby china collection by Tiffany & Co. It came all packaged up in a giant blue Tiffany’s box, which I still have in my closet.
Next to the window I added another piece of art that has a lot of meaning for me. It is my woodland poster design. I used to sell a variety of personalized animal theme posters when I stayed home with my oldest son. I am very sentimental about it. My shop actually met it’s demise and went permanently on vacation when I got very sick during my pregnancy with Jax. I love the poster and it is a bittersweet reminder of what I gave up for the health of me and my baby.
Anyway, here is a closeup shot of the poster design. Each of the animals have their own pattern. My favorites are the faux bois deer and the lace bunny.
Thanks for indulging in my sentimental nursery tour today :)
What an adorable room. I got sad when you spoke of your shop going under due to your health. You are so talented, I’m sure you will have another shop again (if you want it). Thanks for showing all the little things close up. I have a tendency to scan a room (or anything in life for that matter) without picking up all the details. It’s really the details that make the room, right? I love that poster with the different patterns and the jack is so cool.
I just saw one of the jack accent pieces at our Target store yesterday! There are still some out there. You just have to scope out another Target store. What a cute idea, considering your son’s name!
I love love love that woodland poster. Oh please please please sell it again. ;)
