I originally saw this idea from Old Brand New last year around the holidays. I procrastinated and before I new it the mini ornaments were off the shelves, so I filed the idea away. When I saw it pop up again on Ohdeedoh, I did not hesitate to immediately order the sputnik photo mobile to make my own for the nursery.
The mobile was about $15 with shipping. For another $6 I bought a package of mini ornaments at Target. I chose a set with teal, green, and silver balls.
This sputnik mobile assembles in under 15 minutes and is ready to hang. You simply put together the mobile and then clip the ornaments on.
Finally, I can replace the tissue pom poms I had been using as a makeshift mobile in the nursery. The new sputnik mobile is more sculptural and adds a great glimmer to the room. It complements the fabric I designed for the crib skirt. I also love that the mobile will easily transition into a big boy room, even if the ornaments need to be swapped for another color.

Very cool idea! It looks fantastic.
I love this and may have to add this to my boys’ room. They have an airplane themed room, but it is done in those colors of your mobile. It would be a definite pop of fun against the boring white ceiling. Thanks for sharing!
