Do you have someone in your life that is really hard to buy gifts for? Or find it impossible to get the perfect gift for a crafter that has everything? For me that is my sister. I struggle every year to come up with a thoughtful gift and to resist going the easy gift card route. This year I think I outdid myself by making the perfect crafty gift for a crafter, like my sister.
My sister loves scrapbooking, but I hesitate to buy her supplies she might already have. Instead, I decided to make her some supplies. Rather than just limiting the gift to scrapbooking supplies, I made her a gift-giving kit. She puts a ton of energy into making handmade gifts for her love ones and I wanted to give her an easy way to embellish those gifts for the giving.
I filled a nice tin box full of:
- hand-punched elements (using my own punches and paper I had on hand)
- hand-stamped wood veneer gift tags
- DIY fabric tape
- DIY gift bags
- printable vintage trim gift tags
- printable mini gift cards
- Decorative clothespins
- stationary
I put a lot of time into making each of the elements for her, which in the long run will save her time and still allow her to wrap her gifts with a handmade touch.
I neatly packaged each of the elements in little cellophane bags. I punched circles from a paper grocery bag and ran them thru the Xyron sticker machine to make my own kraft stickers. I used them to seal each bag and label the contents. I added a few embellishments to the tin, like my sister’s name and some adhesive ribbon to dress it up.
Once I got done I did not want to give it away. That is the sign of a good gift, right?…one you would like to receive yourself!
